If he were still alive he would probably be under appreciated and we might not have realized his greatness. You know the saying "you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone" or something like that. Maybe places like this that show devotion and respest for Tolkien would not exist. Though his works did seem sadly unfinished. When i read the first bit of Unfinished Tales i felt emencely sad for the great loss that was his passing. I would ask him if Arwen was in fact like his mother, and how it was to be friends with C. S. Lewis and what they talked about. I would ask what his favourite season was and his favourite verse.
