MATCH 3, AT FORMENOS

It was a very noisy and boisterous crowd who gathered to watch the match between Formenos and Amon Rhud. The underground stadium carved out by Feanor and his sons in ages past was a bit smaller than other venues, but extremely loud, as well as jaw-droppingly beautiful. The players from Amon Rhud looked rather in awe as they came out onto the artificial turf, gazing in wonder at the many sparkling jewels that studded the seats and walls.

The players from Formenos however trotted out unfazed and began limbering up for the start, which soon arrived. From the opening minutes it became quite clear who the victor would be. Formenos was just a little faster, kicked just a little harder, changed directions a little quicker, and worked together just a little better than Amon Rhud.

At minute 13 Amon Rhud could no longer withstand the withering assault and gave up the first goal of the match to Maedhros off of a feed from his father. Just over ten minutes later Formenos struck again- only this time it was Feanor himself punching it in after a nice corner from Amrod.

Formenos seemed to take the foot off of the gas after this, but Amon Rhud was unable to counter, as time and time again they simply could not get the ball into the other half. And then just two minutes before the half, Maglor stole a pass and boomed a long shot that bent wickedly around the goalie and in for the 3-0 lead.

In the second half Formenos called off the dogs and stopped pestering Amon Rhud so much in their half, but they still smothered them when they got in close and refused to allow breathing room for a decent chance at the goal. And when Formenos had the ball they worked it into the offensive zone with relative ease, but they weren't working for their chances nearly so hard any longer, and thus Amon Rhud was able to preserve the three goal differential.

Until minute 78, that is. Aredhel made a nice run in at the goal, leaving her defender in her dust, and Maedhros from the other side expertly put the ball right to her head for the easy goal and a commanding 4-0 lead. Formenos kicked it around for most of the remaining time, and as the game ended the Formenos supporters exited the stadium wondering the same thing- if Formenos plays well, who can challenge them?
