My friend took a class like that, and they didn't even show her how to change a tire or check engine fluids... Tisk, tisk.
I'd try finding a relative who either has enough experience or is in a profession that has them driving everywhere and most of the time (ex: commercial driving). Usually relatives are the best form of 'study'.
