Ugh, I hate that too!
I'll recieve a letter (or even recorded phone message!) after the due date of anything, though usually these are events I'm being asked to attend, etc. Then, I recieve a complaint about it.
I guess with things such as this universally, people have come to the concensus that there's a gigantic telepathic social network that only they seem to use, and shame on you for not noticing...
