Just adding to
Lommy's point about romantic relationship being a bit different than being a parent, children or sibling - and I hope I'm not paternalising here - but I could well think that with a relationship that has lasted ten years or whatever (= a long time enough) there would be no problem either.
Young love... so tender, delicate and fragile... and insecure.
(I'm not sure if I envy you or am just happy to have gotten over that already!
