Tharonwë has become, in spite of himself, addicted to looking in others' minds. He can't help himself anymore. So he sees Roy's dream, and what seems completely wrong to him is that Nimrodel barely registers on Roy's mind. That Roy is completely taken up with Mithrellas and this other girl whom Tharonwe simply cannot place, is nothing short of a complete surprise.
