Ah, Davem. You are too harsh. I have many quarrels with the films but some aspects-- like the visuals--are worthy of praise. Plus, having suffered through the release of Bakshi, and that dreadful Rankin-Bass Return of the King, I know we could have done much worse.

I was not happy with King Kong. I far prefer the original, but I will withold judgment on the Hobbit until I see it (which I hope to do some day).
