Aragorn is certainly worthy of the throne of Gondor - both by birthright and by earning it. He's is learned in the ways of Middle Earth, he's well traveled, he's a warrior, a noble man, an honorable man and husband to an ELF! That's TOO COOL.
However, I'd have to disagree with the following:

Sauron was defeated when the ring was destroyed, and even that event was due to luck, defiance and fate. If anything, Galdalf can be somewhat credited with that since he had an incling that Gollum still had a role to play in the fate of the ring.
