Edhener knew Leoflic was more than right. They had managed to get away from the villagers, but that was not something to be too relieved about. It was quite likely that what awaited them further on their journey would be ten times much worse.
"Worse than being trapped amid the flames with little hope of escaping?" a voice inside his head asked, but Edhener dismissed the question. He could not help feeling ashamed for his moments of petrifying panic back in the burning field. The others had kept their presence of mind, more or less, and that seemed harder for him to bear. No one had lost their heads as he had done. Why had it had to happen exactly to him?
Edhener shook his head vehemently. He should not think that way. And anyway, he had other things to worry about than one fleeting moment of panic, especially one which had been witnessed by no one. He turned to Mayonette and Hama, a questioning look on his face.
"It seems that we have passed our first test." he said."But what now? Should we not be moving on?"
