On message boards all over the Internet, there are pages and pages and pages of religious debate threads. This board is no exception.

Why do we do this?

I think that it is because religion is something that pretty much everyone has, even if it is that they don't have a specific religion. It is a common thing that sticks in peoples minds. Also, people like to disect LOTR, we know that Tolkien was a christian so naturally people think that his works must be an annalogy of some biblical story. That is my oppinion anyway.
