I'm fairly sure that the Dis that Dante refers to in the Inferno is the Roman equivalent of Hades (Dante being Italian...) As Davem mentioned above Tolkien's Dis is from the Voluspa.

Though maybe Tolkien was just "Dis-sing" the dwarves...
