By coincidence, my suggestion for elimination ties in with that. I
say + + Ulmo (much though I like him). This would not
only temporarily abash Melian but also lead to the possibility
of poisoning of the waters around and through Doriath (Morgoth
seeing this as a way to make Doriath untenable).
