Excuse me? I cant remember any real references to the Wizards before HoME VI, and I he didn't even decide that they were Maia until about VII. I believe Sauron in the only Wizard in Shaping of Middle Earth.
If you haven't read Unfinished Tails WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU SITTING AROUND HERE FOR? Go Go Get It! Its excellent to the nth degree, get it just for the Narn í Chin Húrin, or the story of the fall of Isulder. And it does indeed have a chapter dedicated to the Wizards, (which contains more info on Wizards than the all of the HoME put together).
