If it took Fangorn Forest to make him feel young again, I'd bet he's a lot older than 252.

Aragorn was almost 90 years old at this time. I don't think he would have said that if Aragorn was only 100-200 years behind him.
In the quote you presented, 'to us' means elves...elves that have lived at least that long, I'd imagine, and which he includes himself as a part of. It is not explicit, but seems that he has seen a number of 500-year periods go by. In any event, older than that which is speculated here.
