You're more on to what I was thinking (and a somewhat easier way than I was thinking), so I'll give it to you and get out of the limelight.
What I WAS thinking though was:
Gorbab-> Frodo-> Elrond-> (Celebrimbor->) Sauron->
Morgoth. As noted, it uses Sauron.
I SO can't believe I didn't think about the Nazgul here....
