Don't let your friends make fun of you for liking the Harry Potter films! They are decent films, and you can tell them that they star some of the greatest British actors giving great performances. I like them anyway. Good fun.
But my favourite two films are about as far away from fantasy as you can get:
Whistle Down The Wind and Mike Leigh's
Naked. Both very grey and grainy, and the latter also incredibly negative.

I've been pondering this one, and I had come up with
Gormenghast, as it didn't seem that the BBC adaptation was marketed as being fantasy at all, more of a curious, slightly 'baroque' costume drama. But then, is the novel a fantasy at all? Or is it more gothic? And indeed, are many things which are classed as 'gothic' actually fantasy?
