Why the Inktomi Slurp Spider?

There are other spiders running around the Downs. Why was ISS selected to be their spokespider?

Is it a clue? Saucy- see if you can use your cryptic clues expertise to unravel this mystery.

Or actually, maybe someone else should. I don't trust SPM. He could be the spider!

I just don't know who I can trust anymore.
