I am attempting to ressurect this thread not because I qualify to post to it (being over 18 years old
) but because I think it's a good idea for a thread, and I rather suspect there might be a few newer members out there who would appreciate it -- and I would love to lurk on the thread and see what they have to say.

I first read The hobbit and LOTR when I was ~10ish. That would be about 6 years ago. Before that my parents had read it to me.
