Actually, Elvish is taught in schools...Some schools...In England...By Eru, I wish I lived in England, but sadly I do not. I am doomed not to have sophisticated Elvish education.
In truth, I would not support the teaching of Elvish everywhere. I am informed that Elvish is taught in Trilogy classes and exclusive schools, but nowhere else. Teaching Elvish would be nice and all, but I think it's not a useful benefit to society as a whole. Even if it were merely an elective, I think it would be an elective that degenerates slightly from the format of education. If you're going to learn an un-used language, learn Latin, not Elvish, or Galic, or one of the fabulous lost tongues that actually exist.
I do, though, support and desire to learn about these fabled Trilogy Classes, since I think that the philosophy and literary genius (in my opinion, at least) deserve as much reverence as the other great authors of that day.
