Welcome new writers. As to how to handle mythic writing, I would first do a good amount of reading in it.
The Silmarillion, for example; or try the Icelandic sagas, Norse sagas, and so forth. The
Heimskringla and many other legends are available on-line. Here's another one:

After you've read a bit and gotten a feel for the rhythm and flow and cadence of it (those were redundancies, i think), then give it a whirl.
