To your question: Yes it does 'hit me in the face' as I can make neither sense nor purpose of whatever it was you wrote. But it lacks the content that surrounds true language. The story surrounding it can give just as much mystery to it as can any other device that we use. You said that entire sequences make it (reading) cumbersome. Out of curiousity, because this has come to mind as I read that, is Galadriel's song Namarie cumbersome? Was it pointless and did it turn off the readers? This is just a question you don't have to answer. It is just for curiousity's sake.
