Oooh, I've got two. My film-going compadres asked these of me a lot after film one and three. The first one should be self-explanatory, but some people just didn't seem to understand. The second one is just information misconception. You may only require the first for your article.
1 - What exactly does the palantir do?
Now, I could answer this in excruciating detail. The whole, complicated business of addressing the other six that had existed and the four that currently did. The whole thing about Denethor's palantir and the Ithil-stone and all that might be good bait for your article readers. That also can apply to another question I was asked, 'Why is Denethor crazy?' which was the hardest to explain.
2 - Who the heck was that bulbous-eyed orc leading the armies of Mordor?
Simply put, Gothmog the unknown guy, Lieutenant of Minas Morgul. Honestly, you don't have to include this one in your FAQ, since it's not really very interesting, just something my friends were curious about. Now, at first, I myself hadn' figured out that it was Gothmog, since he never actually 'appears' per se in the books.
