You guys, I'm probably going to light some tempers with this, but I thought that that article was ridiculous, only slightly funny, and a waste of time to read. (Don't kill me!)The only parts that I found even slightly amusing were
quote:
SAMWISE: But who will guide us?
FRODO: How about a reptilian computer-generated creature with a bad comb-over?
SAMWISE: **** Cheney’s in this movie?
GOLLUM: Very funny, Hobbitt-breath.

(I actually almost laughed at that one)
quote:
LEGOLAS: I have no idea what you’re talking about.

quote:
MERRY: Well, Pippin, we escaped the Orcs, and now we are being carried around by talking trees!
PIPPIN: Apparently, the audience will swallow anything.

and
quote:
...with the help of Gandalf the White, formerly Gandalf the Grey, also known as Gandalf the Beige...

I think that the points of the Tolkien fans were being exxagerated to gain a few alughs, because it's really not all that realistic that someone thought that he thought Cheney was in the movies. Come on! I feel like I get most of the jokes, but i think they're lame anyhow.
quote:
Anyone who is seriously offended by it needs to get a life.

Well, it happens that some people are offended by things more than others. I know I need to get a life, but I'd rather other people didn't tell me a much. And the "apology" was much too sarcastic for my liking, and I would rather he hadn't put it in in the first place.
quote:
1) You are able to laugh at it. Let's be truthful: Not everyone's going to love as you do and there will be poke-ats.

Well of course. I poke fun with LotR myself- but at least I try to not actually be offensive, which it doens't seem like this dude does.
quote:
Seriously... if you can't laugh then something is wrong!

I know something is wrong. It's just that I think that what's wrong is in the article.
Okay. Done ranting now. But I still don't like it.
~Menelien
[ April 30, 2003: Message edited by: GaladrieloftheOlden ]
