I didn't get the point of that scene besides to make Viggo fans (notice I didn't say Aragorn) afraid he was going to die. But your point does intrest me. Though I do think that Boromir better parallels Isildur. But hey, at least the scene wasn't as bad as the dream sequence with Arwen strutting around in her see through dress.
