If PJ was one fifteenth as pedantic as Tolkien was, there wouldn't be any nitpicks in the movies at all. <P>I tried to explain away the Isengard staff thing by saying that maybe he made a new one. It's the only explanation I can think of, other than "they f*ed up!" The movies definitely treat the wizards' staves more offhand than the book does. I don't think that Saruman should have been able to take Gandalf's staff and use it against him. They're not like normal weapons, they're more symbolic than anything.<P>Am I the only one who hated Gandalf's white staff? I thought the actual staffs in FOTR were brilliant.
