quote:
Now this may sound a litte insane, but I really wish I could have been there, in Middle Earth... I wish I lived there in stead of this rotten place. And that's why it hurts me so much. It is just too beautiful... *sigh* I KNOW it is not real... I am just a crazy dreamer.

You're not the only one. That was the main reason for the tears flooding the theatre, coming from me. They really should put in drains.
LotR is full of beautifully painful moments, both the books and the movies. In the movies, the music adds a lot to the beauty of a moment, and even during the credits I cry because of the music. (I am tearing up now, listening to Into the West) 'All will turn to silver glass, a light on the water, all souls pass...' Beautiful! *sniff*
In TTT, the part that set me off crying was when the Rohirrim woman is sending her children away on the horse, and the little girl is crying. Then I cried through the whole thing.
Wonderfully painful moments:
"Don't go where I can't follow"
Charge of the Rohirrim
Pippin's song
Faramir being sent away
The Eagles
The Grey Havens
Pippin and Merry being separated
Sam being left behind
Many more that I can't think of right now
