I think that Galadriel was played very well, both wise and reserved, as well as powerful and tempted. As an actress, I think that Galadriel would be a very hard individual to portray. She's supposed to be wise and powerful and serene, and tempted to do evil... very difficult... She did well. The special effects only helped to empahsize her inner conflict.
