As I've stated before, when I first saw the movie, I was mainly watching for him and how he would play "my" Sam. As soon as I laid eyes on him at Bilbo's party moping the thought immediately struck me: "He's upset with himself 'cause he dosen't have the guts to go talk to Rose! " and sure enough, here came Frodo: "Sam, go ask Rosie! " I knew from that point on Mr. Astin would do Sam right. He did. As for li'l Lije, young or not, I thought he made an absolutely wonderful Frodo, and the two being friends in real life only added to the whole "Frodo and Sam" thing, I think.[ August 22, 2002: Message edited by: Samwise ]
