Re: Religous Hobbits

Well the thing is Lion is that Tolkiens characters dont have religious services or any day thay call holy but that does'nt make you Christian, it only shows that you believe what is taught there and that you show yourself to be a follower of Christ, it's Christ as makes the Christain and Christ working through that person as makes the church, not Vise Versa.
That brings up the other thing I was going to say, LOTR characters are Christian in their additudes and in the way the books are written. The amazing thing is this, the people of Gondor and Rohan knew that there was someone out there trying to destroy the emblem of evil and the center of Evil it's self, so they had to trust that that Person whoever it was was going to get to Mordor and destroy whatever it was that he was going to destroy. So would'nt that count as faith, trusting in someone you cannot see?And what about Gandalf? He's a representation of Christ himself, what I mean is that Gandalf gave his life for his followers to escape and I defiantly think that that is a representation of Christ (and there's alot more that I cant write down coase I'm running out of time so I'll cut it short).
And what about the plot line itself?Good verses evil and good coming out on top because of one plan, one individual giving himself up for the rest of the world(I ment Frodo not Gollum), I mean how Christian is that?
So please remember that Christ Makes the Chruch by working in the Christian, going to church does'nt make you religious or does'nt make you a christian,It does'nt get you to heaven anymore then Baptisim does, It's Christ as does all the work and there are plenty of representations of Christ in LOTR
Sam
Ps. Jesus was'nt "religious" in the Pharasiees sight, he did'nt do all that fancifull doo da stuff that they said you had to do to be right in the sight of God, he just OBEYED which is what we need to do as Christians we need to obey God and his directions for us, I think that's what makes us "religious"(well that is besides being a Christian yourself).
Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons. For you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
