If Orlando Bloom says anything like that to Viggo Mortenson and John Rhys-Davies I will laugh myself silly.
I don't think it would matter much if Legolas' family line was broken by him not having any children. Since Elves are immortal it doesn't strike me that preserving their name would matter so much to them. Humans want to have heirs because we die, and children are a way to continue on. Elves, well, they don't need that sort of thing. I know plenty of Elves do have children, don't get me wrong. I just don't think being childless would bother them that much.
