Sorell blushed. He went and stood next to Nayru.
"Well, I just wanted to say thanks. For everything. But please, could you stop kissing me? You're like my little sister. I want to protect you, and we are such close friends that I do love you, but not really in that way." He looked at Nayru, who smiled gently.
"But if you can't kiss your friends, who can you kiss?" she said.
Sorell sighed, and rested his head in his hands.
"Just don't. My- my mother- well, I don't remember much of her but I do know she always used to kiss me on my cheek, or forehead, or nose. Just like you. And although I love my mother, she's dead, and nothing will change that. So for me, the best thing to do is remember in my head, not out loud. Then maybe the pain will go."
He put his hand on Nayru's shoulder and let out his wings, hovering up and over the balcony.
"I'm sorry." He kissed Nayru on the top of her head and flew off.
Sorell sat up on the roof, trying to forget what had just happened. He suddenly realised it was morning, and flew down to the dining room to get some breakfast.
