Lanus was getting more impatient (or maybe it was just the sound of the muffled wailing of Sírabel beside him) he tapped his hands on the counter. "Innkeeper!" he called again, but it was not she who answered his call, but the hobbit lass who had served them cake earlier in the morning.
"What can i do for you?" she asked, but Lanus gestured to his friend who was bent over the counter. "I see, ill get something for you right away." and scurried off into another room.
"Oh Eru!" cried Sírabel. "I feel as though ive been hit about the head with a rather large blunt object!” she squinted through the blood which was running from her hair.
Ruby returned with some hot salty water and bandages. Lanus took them from her gladly. “Sit” he said to Sírabel who said nothing. “Now, would someone who was cruel do this for you?” he asked as he cleaned the wound. Sírabel closed her eyes.
“Im sorry Lanus, I shouldn’t have been so mean.” Lanus nodded and she was humbly silenced. In a few minuted the wound was on it’s way to healing and the two were back at their table. Sírabel felt dreadful. She struggled to find conversation once more. “The is a lot of new people who have arrived now.” Lanus nodded as he drank his ale. “Lanus, you said something before, about not having told me anything. You can tell me you know, I wont tell a soul- I don’t know anyone who I could tell.”
“I know” he said, a slight smile on his lips as he dragged his fingers through his dark hair. “And I will tell you, but in time. For the while, lets not think about our quarrel, why don’t we make more conversation, perhaps with more travellers, what say you?”
“I suppose” said Sírabel as she sunk into her chair.
