Mimosa and her brother Hugo sat silently by the fire, sipping quietly on their ale. Mimosa looked away from Hugo into the heart of the crackling fire, trying not to make eye contact. She was in a horrible mood, but the warmth from the fire prickled against her skin and helped her to calm down.
Mimosa was only half finished her ale when her brother got up to go check the horses and wagon. He could be out there for hours, he always takes his time, even when it is important! She sighed and looked into her mug at the ale sloshing around at the bottom. He had always hated to do things too quickly, which sometimes came in handy. Rushing things never helped anyone, he used to say(and still did).
Mimosa stood up and walked over to the counter, almost slipping on the water that had gathered on the floor and ordered some bread. She had not had much to eat and was terribly famished, though she had forgotten after getting angry with Hugo. She walked back to the table trying not to step into any puddles, and ate silently, watching the flames from the fire skip happily about infront of her.
