Jet sat down, shaking his head. Tallin stopped, waiting patiently- she could tell he was talking to his mate. Eventually he snorted and stood up again, walking ahead in the direction he hoped they had been going before.
"Jet?" She called after him, anxiously, running after him as he now started bounding. "Jet, whats wrong?"
"Dia. Shes..."he stopped and shook his head again, exasperated then restarted. "No, not Dia, Raye. She...she can hear us, Tal. And...it feels wierd. Its like shes always in my head. And I dont know why." His voice was almost a whine by the end. Tallin laid a hand gently on his head. She knew how he felt; it was strange to have someone almost invading the world they had had or themselves for so long.
"Tallin...Tallin, come look at this." Hwestas voice called urgently from a few metres away. Tallin stroked his head gently and followed her voice. She reached where the girl knelt, brushing aside some leaves..
"Arrelle." Tallin brushed the rest of the leaves hastily away from the womans face, then chest and was rewarded by a groan, as the feeble figure almost doubled up in pain. Tallin smiled grimly. "Well, at least we know youre alive."
Arrelle turned on her side, coughing and holding her ribs. Tallin felt the area and felt a bone crack under her fingers. Ah, broken bone. Arrelle had somehow managed to get this far, but she wouldnt be able to get much further without help. She lifted her carefully, and together she and Hwesta supported her. Tallin called to Dia with her mind, and got a grumpy reply.
"What?"
"Well, I am sorry! We're coming back. Go back to the cave."
"Oh joy, we get to be stuck in the cave with Raye now..."The wolf broke off with an angry mutter and a sigh. Tallin raised her eyebrows but, aware the others couldnt hear, continued back to the cave, holding Arrelle.
