Tallin had come to the conclusion that she, Hwesta, Belle, and the wolf Jet would search for the missing Arrelle.
"What about me?" Dimithil asked urgently.
"You must stay here with Dia and keep watch over Corrowyn," Tallin answered.
Raye was too bothered by this comment to even notice the wolf tamer had used her true name. "Wait a minute," she said, struggling to stand up. "I'm not staying here. I want to help."
"Corrowyn, I don't think that's such a good idea," Tallin argued. "You are hurt."
"And so are you." Raye pointed to the splint on the wolf tamer's arm.
"But at least I can walk."
"And so can I. I'll just need a little help."
Tallin sighed. "All right, then. How about this? Instead of staying here, you, Dimithil, and Dia will also search for Arrelle. That way we will have two groups searching for her."
"What?!" Dimithil exclaimed. "You're making me go with her?"
"I need you to watch over her, Dimithil," Tallin said. "See that she does not harm herself."
"Harm herself?!" Dimithil was on the verge of shouting. "What about me? Raye is a murderess, or have you forgotten?"
"Raye will not harm you," Belle told her brother. "Please, Dimithil. Do as Tallin says."
Dimithil scowled at this, but agreed he would go with Raye.
"And what about me?" Raye heard Dia complain to Tallin. "That murderess stabbed me. I don't trust her."
"That was long ago, Dia," Tallin responded. "Didn't you hear a word Belle said? Corrowyn won't harm you."
"Corrowyn? Since when was the murderess's name Corrowyn?"
Tallin sighed. "Just do this for me, Dia. Please. I need you to watch Dimithil and Corrowyn and see that they do not try to kill each other."
"Fine, fine," Dia muttered. "But I can't guarantee you that I won't hurt the murderess."
And so the two groups parted, in search of Arrelle.
