Hwestlaeriel quickly saw that the creature had not finished his job, and that her brother lay some twenty paces away to where she had run at the call of her brother's name. She ran to the handsome Elf's prostrate body. She also saw Dimithil strike down Raye. The cry Raye had given had seemed to be one of fright, not one of a malicious nature. Maybe the woman was trustworthy, as her brother believed...

Hwestlaeriel, kneeling by Berethion, called over to Dimithil, "Deal with her later! I need your help!"
She could see that Berethion was growing pale. He was badly injured. Hwestlaeriel could see that, if they did not aid him, he would soon perish.
Dimithil did not move from where he stood over Raye. Hwestlaeriel looked up and saw a mental struggle going on between the two companions, now rivals. She remained quiet and wondered if Dimithil was going to slay the woman right then...
"Berethion! Arrelle! Dimithil! Hw-" came a faint, cut-off sound. Hwestlaeriel and the others looked around, trying to figure out who made the noise.
"Tallin!" Hwestlaeriel said, seeing that their companion was not with them. She rose to her feet, "Where has Tallin gone?"
She looked at Berethion, then to where the sound came from. She noted that Dimithil did not move. She figured that Berethion's corpse would be safe as long as Dimithil was there. Hwestlaeriel bolted through the woods. She went right to the source of the sound, and found herself right outside the mouth of the cave. Hwestlaeriel stopped and waited, as the others, minus only Dimithil and Raye, appeared around her. Hwestlaeriel looked at the others questioningly, wondering if they should enter.
They heard a scuffling within, and each member of the company quickly drew his or her respective weapon. Hwestlaeriel, oblivious to her actions, led the group into the cave.
Suddenly, Hwestlaeriel stopped, causing Arrelle, who was immediately behind her, to bump into her. Both made no noise, though, seeing what was ahead. They saw the troll and Tallin trapped.
Again, without thinking, Hwestlaeriel approached the troll, prepared to defend her companion and, up to this moment, rival...
