Sting

The forest was so thick that it blocked the sun. It took some time before Raye was able to figure out what direction they faced. And it took her even more time to figure out what direction to take.

South was out of the question. If they head that way, they would run right into the night elves again. And Raye didn't even think about turning East. The thought of seeing that swamp again sent chills down her spine. The murderess wondered about heading North. She knew that the mysterious creature dwelled there, but she didn't believe it could be all that dangerous. Besides, it would be a good way to dispose of the weaker ones of the group. But Raye wanted to get out of the mountains, not further into them. Going West seemed to be the only option.

Raye glanced back at the others, who sat resting behind her. Her eyes fixed on Tallin and Berethion, who were in deep conversation. They spoke something about Tallin's missing wolves. The wolf tamer looked quite worried while the other elf reassured her. Raye turned away, disgusted. She would listen to that conversation no more.

Raye could not see how Berethion could befriend the wolf tamer, especially after what she had told him about her. It was Tallin whom the murderess wanted dead the most. Perhaps if she wasn't so fond of wolves and their ways, it would be different. But Wolfsoul was perhaps closer to wolves than humans or elves, and Raye knew she would never turn against them. Even if she knew the truth about them and what they had done to the murderess.
Only if there was some way to lure Tallin into the creature's lair and no one else.
Perhaps there is a way, Raye said to herself.
The murderess smiled to herself at thought that this idea could actually work. For once, perhaps something would go her way.

Raye stood up and turned to the others.
"We will head North West," she told them. "Follow me."
