Hwestalaeriel brought the visitors out back to her mother.
"Where is Berethion? He needs to chop wood."
"He is coming...with friends," she said in a quiet voice.
Berethion and the other came.
"Berethion! Are these your friends?" Hwesta's mother asked.
"Well, Tal here is," Berethion said.
Hwesta gave a gentle snort from where she stood.
"Well, company or not, you need to chop wood," the still-youthful looking matronly figure said, "Hwesta, show the company in, please."
Hwestlaeriel gave a brief startled look.
"I can chop wood," she offered quickly.
"No, go inside," her mother ordered.
She silently led them into the house.
"Do you want tea?" she asked them, "Can I get you anything? Do you desire something to eat?"
She was very careful to hide her mistrust of these new people...
