Until now, Lorin had been stabbing and slashing at Shelobs side, it would've hurt her were it not for the many thick layers of skin which had built up over many years. Now though, Shelob had turned her attention towrds Lorin who saw her chance.

Lorin charged with her dagger pointing towards Shelob's blazing eyes. before Shelob could react, she lunged into one of those eyes which went out like a torch in a gale. Liquid gushed out as Shelob screamed once more. The liquid ran all over Lorin's dagger and it slipped out of her hand and fell to the ground with a thud. With no time to draw out her bow, Lorin dived towards the dagger, though in the darkness, she missed it. Lorin fumbled around, lying on her front, feeling towards the dagger with her right hand.

Lorin suddenly screamed in pain, she looked up and could see that Shelob had brought down one of her feet and stood on Lorin's hand. Lorin pulled as hard as she could, but to no avail, Shelob had her full weight on that leg and she was now coming round to finish off her prey. Lorin couldn't fight off Shelob while trapped like this, she had to try and escape. With her other hand she reached towards the dagger again, she wasn't going to use it to attack this time though.

Her hand clasped the hilt of her dagger and she dragged it towards her. She looked at it, it was still covered in slime. She glanced behind her and could see the looming eyes. Lorin hardened in her resolve, it was either this or Shelob's stinking stomach. She raised her dagger above her head and brought it down as hard as she could upon her own wrist. She sprang forward, and Shelob's open fangs closed on thin air. Lorin dodged between Shelob's other legs and appeared out the other side, collapsing against the wall, cradling the stump of her arm, it had been a clean cut at least.
