Eruwen has just left Hobbiton.
Tolkien

Eruwen quietly listened to the confessions of members in the group. It seemed a right time to confess any unspoken secrets, yet she had none to tell. It was true, yes, that she had not spoken much throughout the entire journey, but she hid nothing from her companions...at least not from Soronūmė. He had been closer to her than anyone of them.

Her thoughts were suddenly shattered when Eruwen heard faint footsteps from beyond them. She turned and followed her companions into the heart of Cirith Ungol---the lair of Shelob. Her heart was racing. She knew courage and strength she had, yet it was hard to find any when one felt so near to death. No light could be seen from inside. All was dark. She felt somewhat too nervous to shine a light and reveal what may lay beyond.

No sound could be heard other than the light footsteps of the travelers, nor did anyone dare break the silence. Darkness was far too near now. A shadow had grown close. Fear mixed with a sudden eagerness to destroy this sulking foe had entered Eruwen's mind. All other thoughts had ventured away.

As the group continued to move slowly through the black surroundings, Eruwen stopped. It was not through fright or fear of what lie ahead, it was through knowledge. She knew the time had come. Their foe was here---she could feel it. There was no need to move on. Eruwen made no sound to tell the others, for they had felt it as well. The sound of many steps could be heard coming. The incessent noise grew louder and louder every moment until suddenly, it stopped.
