I think the Daisy/Kali relationship would be quite "young". After all hobbits don't marry till 33, and I think that is probably true of both kin. Still, because Daisy hasn't had a lot of good relationships or relatives who care for her, Kali really means a lot to her.

When I think of their relationship, I think of the scene late in LotR when Sam thinks back on going swimming with Rose and her brothers at the swimming hole in the Shire. Just like Rose eventually ends up with Sam, Daisy will probably end up with Kali in the distant future. But that's still far away.
