Mithadan murmured under his breath and an electric shock threw Piosenniel away from him. He turned and set his hand on the hilts of his sword but did not draw his blade. A distant look came over his face as he murmured again. Then he spoke to Pio and said, "Frodo and Sam have been rescued by Child and Rose but they remain below decks. Angara and one of her kin are hovering above waiting to take them to your ships. But that will not defeat the Wizards which is a matter of paramount importance."

"The REG! You can use the REG," she cried.
"No. The REG will not slay them. It is a device made by man. But this sword..." He sheathed his blade and looked grimly to the West.
"You will be killed," she said. "How can you stand alone?"
"No weapon which you possess can slay the Wizards," he said. "If I am slain... well, tell Rose and Sam that I am sorry for how I treated them. Go now."
He turned away,
