And although none yet knew exactly where they were going, or the meaning of Kali's strange words, they had learned that the hobrim's cousins were in trouble and must be rescued, and that the voyage might even carry them to a different age.

Rose stood on the prow of the boat, and excitedly pointed ahead, "Look, everyone, look, the mouth of the Great River!"
