Bethberry, I could not have asked for a finer first post. May it be the harbinger of many more to follow!

The only thing I would do is to alter the italics to make them into regular quotes, so that they match the rest of the story as written so far. Other than that one extremely tiny nit-pick, a rare and excellent post!
