Sophia looked up startled as a large bang went off near the banqueting tables. Her mind no longer on the dance she quickly forgot which foot was her left and which was her right, and soon she and Thoriel were sprawled on the floor wondering what had happened.
Before they had a chance to determine the cause of their downfall, Fin tripped over Thoriel and landed on top of them, with a loudly squawking yellow chicken fluttering down atop the lot. "Mmm..." said Thoriel, in obvious discomfort.
"Er..." said Sophia in total confusion. Just then the fireworks exploded and the room was filled with green blue and orange stars. The three drunken elves and the famous chicken gazed up a them with their mouths hanging open, afterimages lingering in their eyes long after the fireworks had burned out.
"God, I need a drink." Fin said.
