This is a game with, essentially, three subplots, all heading towards one final resolution. It is thus a complex game with lots of tension and conflict already built into it. The trick is to run it so that these three subplots do come together.
It does not need a sub-subplot, in other words, especially one which does not further the overall direction of the plot.
Menel, your character can indeed reflect upon what it means when a younger person advances above him--that is one of the hard facts of aging--but anything more would splinter the game's focus.
