I like how you handled Edmund in your post. It's obvious that Edmund doesn't like Hobbit children, but nothing was ever said how he feels about Hobbit adults. I think when Rose spoke to him, he could sense that she was a little bit like his own mother, Hobbit or not, and that feeling compelled him to like her. That is, of course, setting aside the pleasant mood he was in, with his squirrel by his si- on his shoulder.
Just something I wanted to comment on, because I'd never considered it before.

I'm glad that you, Nurumaiel, liked the way I "handled" it. I hope that I'm not "interferring" too much with other people's characters and so on. In Edmund's case I just thought it would be a bit funny to give him a cookie and some nice tea. [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img]
