I always admired Gimli's little speech with Elrond before the Fellowship sets out...
Elrond: ...yet no oath or bond is laid on you to go ruther than you will. For you donot yet know the strength of your hearts, and you cannot forsee what each may meet upon the road.
Gimli: Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.
Elrond: Maybe, but let him not vow to walk in the dark, who has not seen the nightfall.
Gimli: Yet sworn word may strengthen quaking heart.
Elrond: Or break it...
I always wondered about the rabid Legolas fans... Gimli has a lot of brain and heart behind the beard and the axe. He'll never let his friends down in a pinch, and is true to the end. Sure, he's proud, but that's what a Dwarf is like. He's not afraid of anything, least of all what others think. Go Gimli!
And Cimmerian, I would have been a Dwarf in the hobbit RPG, but I wanted to be a baddie... [img]smilies/evil.gif[/img]
