Asking why everyone seems to have such an antipathy for Gimli is a surefire way to get deep, intellectual conversations in

Gimli is portrayed quite a bit more uncivilized in the movie than he is in the book, and I'm sure his callousness of character has a lot to do with his lack of fan clubs.
