My family said I couldn't name the cat Luthien 'cause it sounds too much like Lucifer

It's an easy mistake to make. The difference between the two words is deceptively obvious, which is why I called my cat Mephistopheles. I wanted it to be quite clear that he was named after the devil and not one of Tolkien's characters.
